A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of allowing local officials and interested citizens to provide input into the allocation of state and federal aid funds for eligible rural routes and transit systems in Barry County for fiscal years 2026 – 2029. The meeting will be held at the Barry County Road Commission, 1725 M-43, Hastings.

Barry County has been awarded CHILL program (CDBG Housing Improving Local Livability) funds to undertake projects known as HIP (Home Improvement Program) through MSHDA (Michigan State Housing Development Authority).
The purpose is to provide forgivable loans to those homeowners in need of home improvements right here in the Village of Nashville whom are at or below 80% area median income for total household income for Barry County (see eligibility chart here). The forgivable loans are as follows $10,000 or less has no payback and $10,001 up to $40,000 has 0% interest and is forgivable after five years of continued residency.
This program will assist homeowners with improvements to their homes that may include windows, insulation, siding, plumbing and electrical repairs, roof replacement, furnaces and air conditioners, and other repairs as determined to be necessary for code compliance, accessibility and approved by the state of Michigan. This does exclude cosmetic renovations and upgrades.
